It started with a pretty sour welcome. The young waiting staff if not particularly attentive, pleasant enough. However the more senior members of staff seemed to have had a charisma bypass.
I am only writing this review because no one bothered to ask if the food was ok, during or after the meal. So here goes. Very happy to be told the beef was to be served pink, however, half of mine was so tough even the knife could not find a way through it. What was edible was nice enough and the portion was good. But that was disappointing. The Yorkshires were precooked and thus bone dry and were also burnt. The veg, thankfully not overcooked, but unfortunately undercooked. The whole meal not hot. Gravy lumpy and conjealed. The sticky toffee pudding burnt underneath (sacrelidge) and served with a teaspoon of ice cream.
My wife enjoyed her roast pork. Not sure what was up with the roast chicken, but it wasnt great.
Its a shame. The ambience was really nice. Cosy decor. Our room was particularly warm though. Will probably give it another go nevertheless. They have a lovely garden which is also having a refurb. Will be lovely to sit out.
